How do we receive our counselor’s certificate?
After completing the course, studying the materials, and passing the exam their certificate will be sent to you via email.
How often do our counselors need to recertify?
Every two years your counselors must acquire continuing education credits in order to maintain their certification. Your counselors can also retake the original course and retest to recertify if they wish. Renewal is mandatory for all certificants. Failure to renew certification by the deadline will result in suspension of the credential.
How long do counselors have to complete their exam?
They are given a maximum of two hours to complete their 100 question exam and must receive a score of 80% or more in order to pass.
Why get certified?
It not only increases knowledge on how to assist clients, but most states require Debt Management, Credit Counseling, and Debt Settlement service providers become certified. Our credit counselor certification courses have proven to increase successful outcomes for both client and counslelor.
How much does the course cost?
It is $950 to take our courses.
How many questions are on the exam?
100 questions.
What score is needed on the exam in order to pass?
80%.
Is there a fee to retake the exam?
Yes, there is a fee of $100 for retakes.
What are the requirements to take the exam?
When the counselor is done studying and is ready to take the exam, the first step will be finding a proctor. We offer webcam proctoring for $150, but you may also find a local proctor. You will need to fill out or proctor verification form in order to request the exam. Once we approve the proctor we will send them the exam. You will need to schedule a time to take the exam with your proctor.
